The name Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a misnomer since the underlying technologies are extremely different from each other and only one of them is the basis of AWS. IaaS and PaaS are framework-independent platforms provided by Amazon Web Services that allow customers to install and deploy solutions written in any language that supports the IaaS platform (such as Java, Ruby or PHP).
